I know I'll get sick of emailing all of you to tell you what I'm up to, so I'll just write everything up once and then you can get your fill from here.

Rockin’ the campground
Shelly, Krista, Bulent and I took a little camping excursion this weekend. Bulent borrowed the company car and we drove a couple hours west to a campground we picked (almost randomly) from it’s website. Well, it took a little more than a couple hours because of some altercations with the directions, but after about four hours and a couple stops for food and drink, we finally made it. This place was actually really incredible. We fund a quaint little campsite along a rock-strewn creek hardly any camping neighbors in sight.

Come evening, we decided to walk around the campground a bit to see if we could meet any of our fellow campers. From quite a ways away, we could hear the thump-thump-thumping of some techno music coming from nearby. With nobody else around to meet, we decided to stop in and pay a visit to those guys. Turned out to be a couple of the gayest guys I’ve ever met…or so it seemed. Throughout the night these guys continually referred to themselves as being straight, but seriously, from the bumping techno to their too-tight tshirts to their odd attention to their clothes, if they’re straight, then their friends seriously need to have an intervention with them to get them to come out.

We ended up visiting for a while, then we all walked down to the local townie bar for a drink, where shelly nearly go in a fight with a local. A local who just happened to be a big, scary biker looking dude. There was some issue with this guy claiming he owned the pool table because he won a game before we showed up, and we just wanted to play a game amongst ourselves. Shells stood her ground though until we finally got our way. I think one of the “gays” ended up scurrying away so he wouldn’t be involved in a fight.

Anyway, we stayed out for an hour or two then ended up crashing in a too-cold tent. In the morning our plans of hanging out at the campground all day fell to the wayside and we packed up by noon and headed home. We got home around 3:30 and the rest of the day I got some much needed couch-time in.
