I know I'll get sick of emailing all of you to tell you what I'm up to, so I'll just write everything up once and then you can get your fill from here.

Labor Day Weekend
It's been a pretty busy weekend, filled with all kinds of little adventures

Friday
I moved into my new place on the West side on Friday. For most of the rest of my stay I'll be staying at Steve's apartment, the guy who's sublitting my place in Minneapolis. I planned a time to meet with the guy who was previously watching Steve's cats so I could get the low-down on how to care for the Old, hobbly-wobbly grandpa cat. The guys name was Zach and he, for lack of a better name, was a "dude". He kindof had a west coast surfer meets east coast kindof look. He showed me around the place and filled me on on how to give grandpa cat his medicine (rubbing stuff inside the cat's ears, yuck), and then we shared a cab back to Brooklyn.

The apartment is beautiful. It's a two bedroom right in a great neighborhood in the west side. If it wasn't rent contrlled I'd probably expect to pay over $3k a month, but luckily I got a steal at $840/month. I'm also really excited that I finally have a respectable kitchen to cook in. I'll have to plan a dinner party soon.

After meeting zach and the cats. I went to meet Shelly back in Brooklyn, where we went out for thai food, got a drink at a place called the Metropolotan, and then went to Barcade for a game of Centipede.

I stopped at Woody's place on my way back to my new apartment and packed up my big-ass luggage bag and packpack to move it. I hauled that damn bag around the subway system probalby for an hour and a half , up and down a dozen flights of stairs, trying to find the right train transfer. then finally up four flights of stairs to my apartment, where it took me about 15 minutes to try to figure out how to work the key to open the door. I though the neighbors were going to come out and accuse me of trying to pick the locks it took so long, although was almost 3am by the time I finally got there.

And of course, the cat left me a nice present of poo in the hallway for my welcome.

Saturday
I went with Shelly, Krista and Bulent to Conneticut for Krista's Sisters wedding. I'd only met Krisa's sister, Lisa, briefly four years ago, so I was expecting a little awkwardness, but as it turned out I had a fabulous time. the train ride was only about 45 minutes to get to her place in Conneticut, then I spent a few hours with Bulent picking up beer and ice, and helping set up. The wedding was small and lively, and despite the fact that we were getting pommeled by the rains pushed up from Hurrican Ernesto, our little white tent we were in kept us all dry.

Shelly and I hit our train home just before midnight, and once back in Manhattan went out and ate Okonomiyaki, and Tacoyaki (Octopus Balls). Seriously, those japanese cook up some dishes that sound nasty, but they're deeeee-licious.

Sunday.
I spent the morning getting aquainted with my cats and my new place, and going for a nice bikeride along the west side. Around 5-ish I got a text message from Fiona, saying that she was having happy hour with her roommate (her actual roommate, who's place I was taking while I was staying with her) and that I should join her. Well, it is a holiday weekend after all. so I did.

After a quick happy hour, I then went and met up with my friend Anna Lee from Minneapolis, who was visiting just for the weekend with some friends. We grabbed some food and drink, then parted ways again with the plan of getting together later to go out with her other friends.

Well, I got a little antsy waiting, so I instead decided to round up Shelly and go to Queens to meet Krista and her Dad at a place called the Beer Garden. The beer garden was Huge, packed to the gills with people drinking pitchers of beer at picnic tables out in their big outdoor patio.

So it had been a really long day, and by the time i headed home I wanted nothing more than to go to bed, but of course I got myself lost going home. The streets on the West side are seriously Wack. I went in a circle more than once I think. Maybe it had something to do with how exausted I was, and the beer that I had, but it was a nightmare. I was happy to finally make it home.

Monday.
Finally, a day where I did almost nothing. The only realy active part of my day was when I walked around my neighborhood to get coffee and check out the area for a couple of hours. Other than that, I just sat around and lazily enjoyed my day of not-laboring.
